Ferris State University College of Pharmacy invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean/Academic Department Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences/Director of Research & Discovery.  The Assistant Dean serves as a leader in the College in the innovation of teaching, research, and service.

The successful candidate will manage, direct and provide quality leadership for the administrative activities of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy by coordinating and supervising the administrative duties to include: budgeting, personnel management, departmental program development and policies and procedures. The Assistant Dean will plan, direct, and supervise research programs for the College of Pharmacy; assure that the academic needs of the students are served in an effective manner; and plan, direct, and supervise the coordination of the academic programs within the department including supervision of faculty and staff.

Ferris State University’s 880-acre main campus is located in the mid-Michigan city of Big Rapids, just a few hours from Chicago and Detroit, and about an hour from Lake Michigan beaches, downhill ski resorts and the city attractions of Grand Rapids – Michigan’s second largest city. It is a small, scenic community with approximately 13,000 students and 15,000 residents. 4. Qualifications: Ph.D. in pharmaceutical science related discipline. Demonstrated experience in higher education commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor.  Evidence of successful extramural research funding with dissemination in peer reviewed publications.  Demonstrated management, administration or leadership in higher education, professional/relevant governmental organizations, committees, or work teams.  Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with diverse academic populations; and utilize, recommend or promote effective modes of student instruction.

Informatics Pharmacist March 28th, 2013

3. Description:  This position serves as an expert resource and consultant in pharmacy informatics. The  primarily responsibility will be for supporting Information Systems and Pharmacy software interfaces, dictionaries and connectivity with pharmacy automation systems such as unit-based dispensing cabinets and point-of-care bedside medication scanning technologies.  Secondary responsibilities will include staffing central pharmacy operations.  Specific areas where consultative support may be provided include, but are not limited to, medication inventory catalog maintenance; pharmacy informatics operations support; policy and procedure development; software customization; upgrade planning, implementation and testing; database management and mining; training systems; and development, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting of interfaces.

Pharmacy Intern January 29th, 2013

3. Description:  Family Health Pharmacy, an in-house 340B clinic pharmacy, has an opening  for an Ohio pharmacy intern.  The pharmacy student would work full time during the summer and possibly during the school year as schedule allows.  Our pharmacy is located within a Federally Qualified Health Center that houses over 20 providers.  We are a closed door pharmacy, filling for patients of our facility only.  We fill approximately 250 prescription orders daily.  We have a very large patient assistance program which serves our low-income and indigent population.  We are growing our Clinical Pharmacy Services by conducting MTM with patients providers have referred to us and also by actively participating in the National Patient Safety Pharmacy Collaborative.  Students will be exposed to all aspects of the pharmacy services from order check in to patient counseling.  All segments of the prescription fill process will be experienced by the student.  The student will learn to use our electronic medical record to prepare for MTM encounters.  Family Health is applying for accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home.  The pharmacy intern will be able to witness our development of this type of practice setting.

Clinical Research Intern January 29th, 2013
